Glögg- Scandinavian Mulled Wine

Scandinavians love the spiced warm wine called Glögg. It makes so much sense when one considers how a nice warm, boozy beverage can appeal to those in a region close to arctic circle with some of the longest, coldest, and darkest winters on the planet.

Ingredients

  • 1⅓ cup Water
  • cup Sugar
  • 1 medium Cinnamon stick (Sub: 1 tsp ground cinnamon)
  • 1 tsp Clove
  • 1 tsp Allspice
  • 1 tbsp Icelandic Brennivin (Sub: vodka)
  • ¼ `cup Port wine
  • 1 tbsp Dark rum
  • ½ cup Orange juice, no pulp
  • 1 Bottle red wine
  • Dried cranberries, for garnish

Instructions

  • Add everything liquid to a large saucepan. Bring to a boil. Add sugar, ⅓ at a time. Mix well to dissolve all the sugar. Strain into a glass measuring cup.
  • To serve, combine 1⅓ syrup with wine in the saucepan. Heat thorough and top with cranberries.
