Havuçlu Pilav- Turkish Carrot Rice Pilaf

This easy rice pilaf recipe is made sweeter with addition of shredded carrot. Carrot Rice Pilaf compliments most Turkish grilled and roasted meats.

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan with lid

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Long grain rice
  • ½ cup Orzo Orzo
  • 1 cup Shredded carrot
  • 1 small Onion, chopped
  • 2 tbsp Unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 2 cup Chicken broth, unsalted
  • 2 tsp Kosher salt

Instructions

  • Melt butter and oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and orzo and cook for 2 minutes. Stir in carrot and cook a few minutes more until tender. Add rice and stir to coat.
  • Add broth to saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer 20 minutes. Leave cover on and rest rice for 15 minutes. Remove cover and fluff rice with a fork. Serve.
