Comeback Sauce is a classic Southern dipping sauce and salad dressing originating in Jackson, Mississippi. The name comes from the tradition that whenever you leave a place, people don’t say “goodbye” or “see you later,” they say “Y’all come back.”
Comeback Sauce is similar in flavor to a Louisiana remoulade or Thousand Island salad dressing. Serve the sauce with fried seafood and pickles, as a salad dressing, a dip for shrimp and vegetables, or as a spread for sandwiches. It also makes a nice dip for French fries or chips.
Mississippi Comeback Sauce
Try to make this sauce a day ahead of time and refrigerate overnight for the flavor to intensify. For a thinner salad dressing, add more vegetable oil.
